The Original is always best...

We felt that the motorcycling community needed a new organization where riding, and the common bonds felt by those on two (sometimes three) wheels would take precedence over politics and arguments. Where we and our families could have fun riding together and participate in other activities too. Where we could provide some benefits for our members and for our community.

In January, 1999, Zen Riders was formed.

There were a lot of other suggestions, but when Silver Surfer mentioned the famous bible Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance we knew that we had found our name. GunSlinger coined (or probably stole) the phrase "Ride for Inner Peace" and we knew where we were going.

I sat down with a suggestion from Surfer and designed our logo, from there we worked through what seemed like hundreds of revisions, tweaks and changes to come up with what you see today, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Zen Riders is dedicated to camaraderie on and off the road. Zen Riders stand back-to-back, never face-to-face.  Those of us who ride understand that it's all about being out there in the wind. Motorcycling to us is a way to take a break from the concerns of day to day life, to clear our minds by focusing on the open road.
